Is a £249 or £399 website actually any good?

Seeing a business website advertised for a few hundred pounds naturally raises a question: what is the catch?

Cheap and bad are not the same thing

A £249 website cannot include unlimited research, dozens of pages, bespoke functionality and weeks of copywriting. It should not pretend to.

Our £249 Basic package is one page. That restriction is what helps make the price possible. The business gets a focused website covering the important information without paying us to build things it does not need.

AI also changes production costs

Modern development tools allow parts of website production to happen much faster than they did several years ago.

We use AI for tasks where it genuinely saves time. That can include early research, planning, first drafts and parts of development.

If a task that once took three hours can now be completed properly in one, we do not see a reason to pretend otherwise simply to justify a larger invoice.

What still needs a human?

Someone still needs to decide whether the website actually describes the business, whether the wording sounds natural, whether there are claims that cannot be proved, whether the site works properly on a phone and whether it is obvious how to contact the business.

Those decisions matter more than how quickly the first draft appeared.

What do you get for £249?

Our Basic package is designed for a straightforward requirement: one page, professional presentation, mobile-friendly layout, clear description of the business, contact details, an enquiry route, basic search foundations and human review before launch.

It is not a £3,000 website being sold for £249. It is a £249 product with a deliberately controlled scope.

What does £399 buy?

Our Essential package gives the business five pages. That gives us more room to separate information and explain the company properly.

For many small trades businesses, this is a sensible middle ground. The introductory price is £399 for the next 20 Essential websites, after which it becomes £599.

When should you spend more?

Spend more when there is a reason. If you need individual service pages, multiple locations, detailed project content, stronger search coverage or a more complicated enquiry journey, a larger website starts to make sense.

Our Professional package provides 15–20 pages for £1,299. Beyond that, the project can be scoped as Bespoke.

The cheapest website can become expensive

A £100 website that you replace six months later has cost more than £100. A website that nobody can update may create another problem. A site built without considering how the business will market itself can become restrictive.

Price matters. So does buying the right thing.

Judge the website by what you need it to accomplish

Do not buy a £5,000 website because somebody convinced you that serious businesses need expensive websites. Do not buy a £249 website if you genuinely need twenty service and location pages.

Start with the requirement. Then choose the level of website that fits it.
