When do we recommend WordPress for a trades website?
WordPress is extremely capable. It is also unnecessary for some websites. The right choice depends on how the site needs to be managed and expanded after launch.
WordPress is useful when the website will keep changing
The strongest reason to use WordPress is not that it automatically looks better. It is that WordPress is a content management system.
That becomes valuable when you intend to add projects, publish articles, manage a large number of service and location pages, give several people access or expand the site regularly.
A five-page website is different
Suppose you need Home, About, Services, Projects and Contact, and you expect those pages to remain fairly stable.
Do you really need a large CMS installation behind them? Maybe. But perhaps not.
Technology should solve a problem rather than create another thing to maintain.
WordPress and SEO
WordPress can be very good for SEO. Installing WordPress does not make a website rank.
A poorly written, slow WordPress website is still a poorly written, slow website. What matters is what is built with it.
WordPress and bespoke SiteSovereign projects
WordPress is most likely to appear in our Bespoke work. Those projects involve more detailed research and copy, larger structures and requirements that vary considerably between businesses.
Part of that process is understanding what happens after launch. If the client needs to manage and expand the website regularly, WordPress may be the sensible choice. If they do not, another approach may be better.

Sometimes that means WordPress. Sometimes it does not.
The customer should not have to change their requirements to suit the website company’s favourite software.
